How do I brew field horsetail properly to get a rich, tasty infusion? — Horsetail Herb 30 g - Original Herbs

To prepare a herbal infusion of field horsetail, the usual proportion is 1–2 teaspoons of dried herb per cup (200–250 ml) of water. Pour freshly boiled water over the herb, cover with a lid and leave to steep for 10–15 minutes — this is what the manufacturer's instructions say (also follow the recommendations on the packaging). If you prefer a lighter flavour, the time can be shortened a little. After steeping, be sure to strain the infusion through a sieve to separate the plant particles. It can be drunk warm like ordinary tea, or chilled with ice. Because field horsetail is whole plant material, it is awkward to brew in a mug without a filter: it is better to use a teapot with a strainer or disposable tea bags that you can fill with the herb yourself. If you plan to drink the infusion through the day, brew a larger volume (for example, 3–4 teaspoons per litre of water) and keep the finished drink in the refrigerator for no more than 24 hours. Brewing in a thermos makes the infusion more concentrated — in that case reduce the amount of herb or the steeping time. The flavour of the finished infusion can be softened with a wedge of lemon, a slice of ginger or a teaspoon of honey — this is especially useful if you are meeting this plant for the first time. Start with a small amount (half a cup) and pay attention to how you feel. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a chronic condition or take medicines, consult a specialist before drinking it regularly.
