To prepare an infusion from whole dried nettle leaves, take 1 tablespoon of the herb per 200 ml of hot water (about 90–95 °C — not boiling, so as not to destroy heat-sensitive compounds). Pour the water over the leaves, leave to steep under a lid for 10–15 minutes, then strain.
The infusion is drunk warm. It is most often taken 1–2 times a day — in the morning or during the day. The exact frequency depends on personal preference and on how the herb fits into your overall diet. Because this is a herbal raw material rather than a concentrated extract, its effect is mild and cumulative — it makes sense to build it into your regular habits rather than use it as a one-off.
It is best to keep an opened pack in a dry place away from direct light and moisture — this preserves the aroma and quality of the leaves. The shelf life is stated on the packaging.
Stinging nettle (Urtica dioica) is a well-studied plant of the European herbal tradition, and an infusion of its leaves is considered a suitable addition to a balanced diet for most adults. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding or taking medicines, it is advisable to consult a specialist before drinking it regularly.
