How should linden blossom be brewed, and can you adjust the strength of the infusion?

Since FARMGRUPP Pärnaõied are whole linden flowers rather than an extract or bagged tea, the strength of the drink can be varied through the amount of flowers and the brewing time — but without exceeding the serving stated in the instructions.

The standard approach according to the instructions: pour a glass (200 ml) of boiling water over 1 tablespoon of flowers (5 g) and leave to infuse for 15 minutes under a lid or saucer so that the essential oils do not escape with the steam.

  • A milder infusion — less plant material (1 teaspoon) and 8–10 minutes of infusing. Suitable for the evening, when you want a light aroma without pronounced astringency.
  • A stronger infusion — the full serving according to the instructions: 1 tablespoon (5 g) per 200 ml and 15 minutes. This option is more often chosen for a scratchy throat: the plant mucilage released during brewing is more noticeable in a more concentrated drink.

Strain the infusion before drinking — with prolonged contact with the liquid, the flowers may give a slight bitterness because of their tannins. It is best drunk warm: a hot drink irritates the mucous membranes, while a cooled one loses some of its aroma.

Linden infusion goes well with honey or a slice of lemon — a classic combination in the European herbal tradition. The ready infusion should not be stored: brew a fresh portion each time.
