Since LEKRASET hyssop is loose herbal material rather than tea bags, you can adjust the strength of the infusion to your taste. The general principle for brewing herbal teas of this type is as follows.
Amount of herb. How much herb to use per serving is given in the instructions on the pack — follow them.
Water temperature. Pour hot water over the herb as described in the instructions on the pack.
Steeping time. Steep covered for as long as stated on the pack. Longer steeping can intensify the slightly bitter note typical of hyssop — bear this in mind if you are sensitive to bitterness.
Straining. After steeping, strain the drink through a fine sieve or use a teapot with a filter.
Hyssop differs from neutral herbs in its spicier, slightly bitter profile, so when trying it for the first time it is better to start with a smaller amount of herb and adjust to taste. If you are used to mint or wild thyme, hyssop will taste richer and more pronounced.
