Bilberry shoots are a whole dried plant raw material, so they are brewed the same way as most single-herb teas: pour hot water over them and let them infuse. According to the label: pour hot water over 1–2 teaspoons of the raw material and infuse according to the instructions on the packaging.
You adjust the strength of the drink yourself: less raw material and a short time give a light, almost neutral infusion; more raw material and a longer infusion give a pronounced herbal taste. Bilberry shoots do not give a bright aroma or sweetness, so the taste will be restrained and slightly astringent – this is normal for this kind of raw material.
It is most convenient to brew them in a teapot with a strainer or to use a reusable filter bag: the shoots must be strained before drinking. It is better to drink the finished infusion fresh – it is not recommended to keep it for longer than a few hours.
Store the dry raw material in closed packaging away from moisture, direct light and foreign odours – this will preserve the quality of the product until the end of its shelf life.
