Tribulus does not act like caffeine or a pre-workout formula — the effect does not come an hour after the first capsule. It is usually taken in courses: plant extracts of this type need time to build up in the body and gradually show their effect. The course length is not stated on the label, so it is worth discussing it with a doctor — consulting one before starting is recommended in any case.
The capsule form is convenient because it requires no preparation or measuring: it is easy to take with your morning or midday meal. Wash the capsule down with plenty of water; if taking it on an empty stomach causes stomach discomfort, it can be taken with a meal.
The recommended regimen is 1 capsule 1–3 times a day, i.e. no more than 3 capsules (1500 mg of extract) a day. Do not exceed the recommended amount on the assumption that “more is better”: high doses of plant extracts do not necessarily produce a more pronounced result but may put extra strain on the digestive system.
Tribulus is most often chosen during periods of intense training, heavy workload or reduced general vitality — in other words, when the body is under increased strain. The supplement does not replace a nutritious diet, sufficient sleep and recovery. If you take medicines or have chronic conditions, consult a doctor before starting a course. Tribulus is not used during pregnancy and breastfeeding. The capsule shell is made from bovine gelatin, and the product may contain traces of milk, soy, peanuts, other nuts, sesame, cereals containing gluten, eggs, crustaceans and fish — this needs to be taken into account if you have a food allergy.
