The manufacturer always states the specific dosage and intake schedule on the packaging — this is the main point of reference, since it is calculated for the particular composition and CFU count per capsule.
A few general practical points that apply to most probiotic capsules:
Timing. Many specialists recommend taking probiotics with food or right after it — food partly neutralises stomach acid, which helps more cultures reach the gut alive.
Regularity. The effect of probiotics is judged by use over a course, not by a single dose. Missed doses reduce the cumulative result.
Storage. Live cultures are sensitive to heat, moisture and direct light. If the packaging states refrigerated storage, this is a requirement, not a suggestion. If room temperature is allowed, choose a dry, cool place away from the stove and the windowsill.
Compatibility with antibiotics. If the probiotic is taken alongside an antibiotic, leave an interval of at least 2 hours between doses — otherwise the antibiotic may suppress the cultures just taken.
With pronounced gastrointestinal sensitivity or chronic conditions, it is recommended to consult a specialist before starting to take it.
