How should Dr.Retter tiger balm be applied, and how much of it do you need? — Body balm "Lifebuoy" warming tiger 50g No. 094 - Dr. Retter

The balm has a thick texture, so a small amount — about the size of a pea or slightly more — is enough for one area (for example, the neck or lower back). It is applied to the skin and rubbed in with massaging movements until the skin turns slightly red and feels warm. It is the massaging and rubbing that activate the camphor and menthol: first there is a characteristic coolness, which is then replaced by lasting warmth.

For the chest and back you can use a little more of the product and rub it in with circular movements — the eucalyptus oil in the formula gives an additional sensation of easier breathing when applied this way. After use, wash your hands thoroughly with soap to avoid accidentally getting the balm on mucous membranes or in your eyes.

If your skin is prone to irritation, before the first use it is worth applying a small amount to the crook of your elbow and waiting 15–20 minutes. Do not apply the balm to broken, irritated or very sensitive skin. After applying, you can wrap the area in a warm scarf or blanket — this enhances the warming effect and makes the sensation last longer.
