How should the balm be applied, and to which areas? — Badger Balm with Terpentine Oil Rescuer No.125 45g - Dr.Retter

The balm is for external use and is applied directly to the skin with rubbing movements. The areas of application depend on the purpose:

  • Chest, back, nape, temples, the area next to the nose — for a feeling of warmth, freshness and a rich aroma, especially in damp and cold weather or after getting chilled.
  • Muscles and joints — after physical exertion, or when the neck, shoulders, back, knees or elbows feel stiff. What matters here is the massage-like way of applying it: the dense texture based on badger fat, lanolin and wax lets the rubbing be smooth and prolonged.

The amount is chosen individually: a small amount of the product is usually enough, warmed between the palms and then rubbed into the area. Camphor and menthol give a light coolness first and then a more pronounced warmth, so the sensation builds up gradually.

After applying it to the chest or back, it is convenient to wrap the area in a warm cloth — this strengthens the warming effect and slows the evaporation of the volatile components. Before bed, the balm is applied in advance so that the aroma has time to fade a little.

Do not apply the product to damaged skin, mucous membranes or the area around the eyes. If you have sensitive skin, it is recommended to test the reaction on a small area first.
