How should I start using it if my skin is sensitive or prone to allergies?

Tar is an active ingredient with a pronounced action, so if your skin is sensitive or reactive, you should not start by using the soap all over your body. Begin with a small area – for example, the wrist or the inside of the elbow – and wait 24 hours. If there is no redness, itching or burning, you can move on to normal use.

During the first few uses, do not leave the soap on your skin any longer than it takes to wash: apply, lather, rinse. Prolonged contact with the skin increases the likelihood of irritation in people who are sensitive to the ingredients of products like this.

If your skin feels tight after use, apply your usual moisturising cream or lotion – this will help restore a comfortable feeling. Marked dryness or discomfort after every use is a sign to use it less often or to stop using the product.
