The general principle for using oil-based ear sprays is this: the nozzle is placed at the entrance to the ear canal (not deep inside), the spray is pressed once or twice, and then the ear is gently massaged to distribute the oil. Any residue can then be carefully blotted with a tissue at the entrance to the ear. Cotton buds are not needed for this and are not recommended: they push the wax deeper.
As for frequency: Waxcontrol is positioned as a product for regular hygiene rather than a one-off emergency procedure. For people whose earwax builds up quickly, or who regularly use earphones, earplugs or a hearing aid, the spray can be used 1–2 times a day or as needed; if you wear a hearing aid all the time, it is worth checking the optimal frequency with a specialist.
Important: if the feeling of blockage does not go away or gets worse after several applications, that is a reason to see a doctor rather than to use the spray more often. The spray softens earwax and makes its natural removal easier, but a dense plug that blocks the canal may need to be flushed out by a specialist.
Do not use the product if you have ear pain or discharge, suspect damage to the eardrum or have a marked loss of hearing — in these cases you need to consult a doctor. The product is not used in children under 3 months of age or in premature babies, and in infants and young children it is used only after consulting a doctor. Do not use the spray in case of intolerance to its ingredients or during pregnancy and breastfeeding; do not spray it near the eyes, nose or mouth.
