The syrup format is easy to fit into everyday dishes without any special recipes. The main ways to use it:
Tea and coffee — a couple of drops make the drink more aromatic and add a warm, spicy note; especially fitting in the cold season.
Yoghurt, cottage cheese, porridge — a small amount helps vary the taste instead of jam or honey.
Baking, sauces, desserts — the syrup works as a flavour accent: it does not overload the dish but adds spice and a light sweetness.
Cold drinks — lemonades, smoothies and cocktails, where ginger adds a refreshing spicy touch.
A practical tip on quantities: ginger is a strongly flavoured ingredient, so it is easy to overdo it. Add the syrup a little at a time, taste and, if necessary, adjust to the intensity you want — it is harder to remove excess heat than to add more. In hot drinks the aroma comes through more strongly, so a smaller amount is enough there than in cold drinks.
When combining it with other sweeteners, bear in mind that Jerusalem artichoke already provides its own sweetness, and additional sugar may be unnecessary. Store the bottle according to the instructions on the pack; once opened, many syrups are kept in the fridge to preserve their taste for longer.
