Which plants make up Speman, and why are there several of them? — Speman – Natural Ayurvedic Support for Men's Health, 120 tablets

Himalaya Speman contains several plant components, each of which plays its own role in the Ayurvedic tradition:

  • Gokshura (Tribulus terrestris) — widely known from supplements for men and sports nutrition.
  • Kapikachchhu (Mucuna pruriens) — used as a source of natural compounds traditionally associated with vigour and resilience to exertion.
  • Kokilaksha and Jeevanti — found in Ayurvedic formulas for general male balance.
  • Salabmisri, Vanya Kahu, Vriddadaru and the lichen Shaileyam (Parmelia perlata) complete the formula; apart from plants, it also contains the mineral component Suvarnavang (mosaic gold).

The point of a multi-component formula lies in the Ayurvedic approach: what is valued here is not one “main” active ingredient but the synergy of herbs that are traditionally used together. This is why such formulas are usually taken as a course rather than as a one-off: the result is judged by how you feel over the whole course, not after the first tablet.

Because the formula has so many components, it is worth consulting a specialist before you start taking it — especially if you take medicines or have chronic conditions.
