What is in this tea, and how should it be brewed? — Bird cherry, fruits 50g LekraSET (Padusavium Moench)

Composition — 100% common bird cherry fruit, with no additives, flavourings or fillers. This is a single-ingredient herbal drink, which allows you to adjust the strength and taste yourself.

Bird cherry fruit gives a denser and richer infusion than most leafy herbs: the characteristic astringency is explained by the high content of tannins. That is why the taste is well balanced, with a pronounced berry note and a light astringent aftertaste.

How to brew: pour boiling water over the fruit and let it steep, so that the tannins and aromatic compounds have time to pass into the infusion. The longer it steeps, the more astringent and rich the taste becomes. Choose the amount of fruit to taste: a standard starting point is one tablespoon per glass of boiling water.

The infusion goes well with honey or a little lemon, which soften the astringency. In the cold season it is drunk warm; in summer it can be chilled and served as a cold berry drink. Store the ready infusion in a cool place for no more than 2 days.

Store the opened packaging in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and foreign odours: the fruit absorbs moisture and aromas easily.
