What is the pendant made of, and what does shungite look like?

The Talisman “Poolkuu suur” is made of shungite, a natural rock mined in the north. Shungite is distinguished by a rich, almost matt black colour and a dense structure, which makes it visually striking even in small pieces. The surface of the pendant may differ slightly from piece to piece – this is normal for natural stone.

The pendant format allows the talisman to be worn under or over clothing, combined with other jewellery or used on its own. Shungite needs no special care: it is enough to wipe the pendant occasionally with a soft dry cloth and to avoid prolonged contact with water, to keep the item looking good.

It should be kept in mind that natural stone is a fragile material: hard knocks and drops onto a hard surface can damage the pendant. It is best stored apart from metal jewellery, which may leave scratches.
