This mask is specifically suited to hair that has been bleached, coloured, permed, relaxed or regularly heat-styled. Those processes strip natural lipids and raise the cuticle, leaving hair porous, rough and prone to tangling. The egg yolk supplies lipids that help replenish the hydrophobic layer on the hair surface, reducing the brittle, straw-like feel. Milk proteins deposit a lightweight conditioning film that smooths the cuticle scales, making strands easier to detangle and less prone to mechanical breakage during brushing. Honey acts as a humectant, drawing water into the hair shaft and holding it there, which counters the chronic dehydration typical of chemically treated lengths. Because the effect is cosmetic and cumulative, you’ll see the most improvement with consistent weekly use over several weeks. If your hair is extremely fragile (snapping easily when wet), alternate this mask with a lighter conditioner to avoid overloading with protein-rich ingredients. Always follow with a cool-water rinse to help seal the cuticle, and avoid vigorous towel-rubbing — press moisture out gently instead.
