Is this balm damaging, and does it do anything for the condition of my hair?

Unlike permanent dyes that rely on ammonia-based oxidation to change the hair structure, this balm works purely by depositing pigment onto the hair. That makes it a gentler option when you want a bold colour without the same level of commitment or structural change. It is still hair colour, though, and can affect how hair feels, especially if your hair is already porous or over-processed.

To help counter that, the formula includes conditioning ingredients designed to make lengths feel less rough after colouring. Keratin complex is included to help smooth the hair surface, and vitamin E is often used in hair cosmetics for its antioxidant role. So after the colour is applied and rinsed, hair can look and feel sleeker than it might after a more aggressive tint.

That does not mean the balm repairs damage. Nothing applied to the outside of the hair can rebuild broken bonds or undo previous lightening. If your hair is heavily lightened, be especially careful: pigment can grab unevenly, and the hair may be fragile. Always do a small test first, avoid contact with the eyes, and if your scalp is sensitive, take extra care during application.
