Is it suitable for sensitive skin, and when should I avoid using it?

This scrub is formulated for people who like strong, thorough exfoliation, so it is not the best choice if your skin is very sensitive or reactive. Sugar crystals combined with charcoal and volcanic clay give a genuinely gritty, intensive polish — that's the point of the product, but it also means it can be too much for delicate skin.

If your skin is somewhat sensitive but you still want to try it:

  • Use very light pressure and let the texture do the work rather than scrubbing hard.
  • Start with once a week and see how your skin reacts before increasing frequency.
  • Test it first on a small, less sensitive area such as the outer thigh.

Skip it entirely on skin that is:

  • freshly shaved or waxed (wait at least a day),
  • irritated, broken, scratched or cracked,
  • sunburned or freshly sun-exposed,
  • affected by an active skin condition flare-up — exfoliating over inflamed skin makes irritation worse, and a scrub is not a treatment for skin conditions.

It is intended for the body, not the face — facial skin is thinner and needs a much gentler exfoliant. If you have a diagnosed skin condition or are unsure whether mechanical exfoliation suits you, check with a dermatologist before use.
