Is it normal for this red pepper hair oil to feel hot, and what should I do if it burns?

A mild warming sensation is normal and expected with red pepper extract. It comes from increased microcirculation in the scalp, which is precisely why this ingredient is used in hair cosmetics. For most people the feeling is a gentle heat or tingling that fades on its own. Still, the strength of the reaction depends on your individual skin and on whether the scalp is currently calm and undamaged.

  • Normal response: light warmth, slight tingling and a temporary pink tone that goes away quickly. It may be stronger on the first use and weaker later, or the opposite — the important thing is that it remains tolerable.
  • Stop use if you feel sharp burning, intense itching, pain or a sudden strong reaction. Rinse the scalp with lukewarm water and a mild shampoo, and do not apply the oil again.
  • If the skin becomes very red, swollen or blistered, seek professional help. This is not a typical cosmetic reaction.
  • Always perform a patch test before using the oil on your whole scalp. Red pepper affects people differently, so a small-area test is the only reliable way to learn your tolerance.
  • Do not apply near the eyes. After use, wash your hands well, because pepper residue can irritate the eyes or other sensitive skin areas.
  • Keep the oil on for a shorter time rather than a longer one if your scalp is sensitive. Warming oils are meant for short pre-wash sessions, not for overnight use.

This product is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease. If you have a chronic scalp condition or very reactive skin, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, ask a specialist before using a red pepper oil. A scalp care product should feel comfortable, not painful.
