I've heard that proteins can sometimes make hair feel stiff or brittle. How does this serum use proteins, and how can I tell if it's right for my hair type?

The serum contains hydrolyzed wheat, oat, and sweet almond proteins. These are smaller protein fragments designed to cling to the hair's outer cuticle. Their purpose is to add a light reinforcing effect, which can make curls feel a bit fuller and more resilient during styling, rather than weighing hair down with a heavy coating. Unlike some larger proteins that can build up and cause stiffness, these hydrolyzed ones are intended to be lighter. However, hair that is already protein-sensitive or low-porosity may react differently.

To see if it's right for your hair, start with a small amount, applying it mainly to the lengths and ends after washing. Pay attention to how your hair feels once dry. If curls feel bouncier, smoother, and more defined without crunchiness, it's likely a good fit. If your hair starts to feel unusually stiff, straw-like, or tangled, it might be getting more protein than it needs. In that case, you could reduce frequency, use a smaller amount, or focus application only on the very ends where hair is oldest and most porous. It can be helpful to alternate with a protein-free moisturizing product in your routine.

As with any leave-in cosmetic, stop use if irritation or sensitivity appears.
