I have sensitive skin. Will the menthol and essential oils irritate me?

Menthol and essential oils can definitely cause tingling or even irritation on sensitive or reactive areas. That tingling is expected from menthol, but it should not be painful or persistent. The formula also contains cypress oil and lemon oil, both of which add the fresh, cooling character of the balm.

Before using it on larger areas, do a small patch test: apply a tiny amount to a small part of your lower leg and wait at least a few hours, ideally overnight. If the skin becomes red, itchy, hot or painful, do not use the product on larger areas. If you already know you react to peppermint, menthol, citrus or essential oils, be particularly careful or choose a product without these ingredients.

Do not apply to broken skin, sunburned skin or other irritated surfaces. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. If redness or burning appears during regular use, stop using the balm. For people with chronic skin conditions, pregnant or breastfeeding women, or anyone on medication, it is sensible to ask a doctor before using a new cosmetic product with essential oils.
