I have sensitive skin. Is the ylang-ylang fragrance likely to cause irritation? — Bath salt with foam and kaolin Ylang-ylang 500 g Zhelana

Ylang-ylang essential oil comes from the flowers of Cananga odorata and has a rich, exotic floral scent. Like many essential oils and perfume ingredients, it can cause irritation in some people, especially those with reactive skin or a history of contact allergy to fragrances. The product also contains a foam-producing component, so the scent is not the only ingredient to consider if your skin is easily irritated.

If your skin is sensitive, the safest approach is to do a small patch test before using the product in a full bath. Dissolve a tiny amount in a bowl of warm water, soak a cotton pad or a small cloth in it, and press it on the inside of your forearm for a few minutes. Rinse and wait 24 hours. If you see redness, itching, or any other reaction, do not use the bath salt. Even without a visible reaction, start with a smaller amount in the bath and keep the soak shorter the first time.

Also avoid getting the bath water in your eyes, since foam and essential oils can sting. If you have a known allergy to ylang-ylang or to fragrance mixes, this product is probably not a good choice. If you are pregnant, breastfeeding, have a chronic skin condition, or are taking medication, consult a specialist before using a new fragranced bath product. This product is not intended to diagnose, treat, or prevent any disease.
