Propolis is a resinous substance collected by bees and is a known allergen for a subset of people, especially those with existing allergies to bee stings, honey, pollen, or other bee-derived products. Reactions can range from mild redness and itching to more pronounced contact dermatitis.
The formula also contains camphor, fir essential oil, and a blend of herbal extracts (burdock, wormwood, rhodiola, chaga), any of which can irritate very reactive skin. The warming action itself — while intended — may feel like burning on sensitive or compromised skin barriers.
Before full use, apply a pea-sized amount to the inner forearm, cover loosely, and wait 24 hours. If no redness, itching, swelling, or blistering occurs, the risk of a widespread reaction is lower, though not zero. If you have a diagnosed propolis or bee product allergy, it is safer to choose a product without propolis.
If irritation develops during use, wash the area with mild soap and cool water, discontinue use, and consult a pharmacist or dermatologist if symptoms persist beyond a day. Do not apply to already irritated, sunburned, or broken skin, and avoid mucous membranes and the eye area entirely.
