I have sensitive, easily irritated skin. Can I use this Cherry Splash shower gel?

For sensitive or reactive skin, the short answer is: test before you use it all over. The cleansing base is designed to be on the milder side — it combines Indian soap nut with sodium coco-sulfate, lauryl glucoside and cocamidopropyl betaine. Lauryl glucoside and cocamidopropyl betaine are the kind of ingredients often used in formulations meant to avoid a squeaky, stripped feeling. However, the product also has a pronounced sweet ripe-cherry fragrance and contains multiple plant extracts. Fragrance is one of the most common triggers for contact irritation in body-care products, so even a well-formulated gel can be too much for a person who is prone to reactions.

If you want to try it, do a patch test: apply a small amount to the inside of your wrist or behind your knee, leave it on for a few hours, and rinse. If any redness, itchiness, burning or bumps appear, do not use the product over your whole body. Also, avoid applying it to broken, sunburned, inflamed or freshly shaved skin for the first few days, because the product's own guidance is to avoid damaged skin and intimate areas, and to patch test if your skin is very reactive or you prefer fragrance-free body products.

If you have a diagnosed skin condition such as eczema or contact dermatitis, treat this as you would any other fragranced body wash: ask your dermatologist or pharmacist whether it is appropriate for your skin. This product is not a treatment for skin conditions and is not intended to diagnose, treat or prevent any disease.
