I have a sensitive stomach and rarely eat high-fibre foods. How should I start using this wheat bran blend with berries and cedar nuts?

This product contains wheat bran, which is the coarse outer part of the grain and naturally rich in dietary fibre. Because fibre absorbs water and adds bulk in the stomach, a sudden large intake can cause bloating or a feeling of heaviness, especially if your usual diet is low in roughage. The product guidance states that if you have a very sensitive digestive system or are only starting with fibre-rich foods, you should begin with a small amount and increase slowly.

A practical way to begin is to use roughly a teaspoon mixed into yoghurt, porridge or a smoothie once daily, then wait a few days and see how you feel before adding more. Always take it with enough liquid, such as water, milk or a liquid-based meal, since fibre needs water to move through the gut properly. Dry use without liquid is not advised.

You can use the blend to add substance to breakfast, make a smoothie more satisfying, or enrich baked goods without greatly increasing calorie density. If you notice persistent discomfort, stop and review your intake. Consult a specialist before use if you have chronic digestive conditions, are pregnant, breastfeeding or take medication.

Also note this product contains wheat gluten from the wheat bran and is not suitable for coeliac disease or wheat allergy. The bilberry, lingonberry, cranberry and apple components contribute flavour and naturally occurring antioxidant compounds such as polyphenols, while cedar nut kernels add texture rather than changing how the fibre should be introduced.
