How should this supplement be given, and what should parents watch out for?

The tablet is meant to be chewed, not swallowed whole — the sweet taste is there precisely so a child aged 3+ can take it without difficulty. Follow the age-appropriate directions on the package for how many tablets to give and how often, and do not exceed the stated daily amount: with children, more is not better, and the label dose is the reference point.

A few practical habits help:

  • Give it alongside a meal. Taking a supplement with food is gentler on the stomach for many children and makes it easier to remember, since it attaches to an existing routine such as breakfast.
  • Treat it as a supplement, not a sweet. Because the tablets taste pleasant, children may ask for extra. Store the pack out of the child's reach and let an adult hand out each tablet.
  • Count all sources of vitamin C. If the child also takes a multivitamin, drinks fortified juices or uses other products with added vitamin C, the amounts add up. Choose one main source rather than combining several.

Consult a specialist before use if the child has chronic conditions, food sensitivities, a restricted diet, or takes medication. Since vitamin C is water-soluble and not stored in large amounts, regular moderate intake through diet and, where needed, a supplement makes more sense than occasional large amounts.
