To get the most out of this soap, rub the wetted bar directly onto the dirty areas before washing. Cuffs, collars, socks, and kitchen cloths are typical spots where direct rubbing works well, because the bar deposits concentrated soap exactly where the dirt is. After rubbing, let the item sit briefly, then soak or wash it as you normally would. If you are hand-washing, work the fabric against itself in the soapy water and rinse thoroughly until the water runs clear; the bar is designed to rinse out well, which helps prevent fibres from feeling rough or looking dull.
For a small load, many people use the bar as a pre-treatment before adding liquid detergent to the wash. That can be useful for mud on children's outdoor wear or for reusable household textiles that need a deeper clean without a heavily perfumed finish. Because the bar lathers even in hard water, it is practical in areas with mineral-heavy tap water.
One bar at 200 g is easy to dose: rub only the stained parts instead of coating the whole garment, and adjust the amount according to how dirty the item is. Avoid leaving concentrated soap on dry fabric for a long time before washing, as with any laundry product, and follow the care label of the garment. For stains that need extra time, keep the fabric wet while it soaks.
