This is a rinse-off treatment, so use it after shampooing. Squeeze or towel-blot excess water from your hair first; a mask clings better to damp hair and does not get diluted into a runny film. Work a generous amount through the mid-lengths and ends, where hair tends to be driest and most damaged. If your roots get oily quickly, keep the mask away from the scalp and focus on the lower half of the lengths. Leave it on for about 5–10 minutes so the conditioning agents and oils have time to soften the hair surface; if your hair feels very rough, you can extend the time slightly, but there is no need to leave it overnight. Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, then follow with your usual leave-in product if you use one. On mask days, you can skip your regular conditioner, since the mask is a richer step. Use it once or twice a week, or more often if your hair feels particularly straw-like after heat styling or colouring. Because the formula contains hydrolyzed keratin and oils, it is meant to be washed out rather than left in; leaving it on longer than recommended will not make it work better and may make fine hair feel heavy. If you have a sensitive scalp or react easily to fragranced products, do a small patch test on the inside of your arm or behind your ear before using it on your whole head, and stop if you notice irritation.
