How should I take care of the brace so it keeps its shape and support?

How long this brace keeps its supportive properties depends a lot on daily care. Before cleaning, check any label or packaging that came with the Toros 414-2, because the manufacturer’s instructions take priority. For elastic supports of this kind, hand washing in cold water with a small amount of mild detergent is usually safest.

Do not use bleach, fabric softener, or strong cleaning agents — they can break down the elastic fibers and affect the compressive feel. Rinse thoroughly to remove all soap, then press the water out gently with a towel instead of wringing or twisting the material. Dry it flat at room temperature away from radiators, direct sunlight, and tumble dryers, since high heat can deform the reinforcements and elastic.

When you are not using the brace, keep it dry and store it at normal room temperature. Avoid folding it tightly in a way that puts permanent creases in the fabric, as this can wear the material unevenly.

Check the brace from time to time for stretched-out fabric, sharp edges, or broken reinforcement parts. If the support feels looser than when it was new or causes new pressure points, it may be time to replace it. A support that no longer sits close will not provide the stability it is meant to give.
