How should I store this oil to keep it from going rancid?

Like most plant oils rich in unsaturated fatty acids, avocado oil is sensitive to light, heat, and air, which can cause it to oxidize and lose its beneficial properties over time. To maintain its quality:

  • Store the bottle in a cool, dark place, such as inside a cupboard or drawer, away from windows, radiators, or stoves.
  • Ensure the cap is tightly closed after every use to limit air exposure. Check that the cap is clean and free of dried oil to ensure a good seal.
  • For general reference, an unopened bottle stored properly can last up to a year or more. Once opened, try to use it within 6–9 months for the best experience. You may notice a change in smell (a sharp, unpleasant odor) or texture if the oil has begun to degrade.

Proper storage helps preserve the oil's antioxidant vitamins and its ability to soften the skin and hair effectively.
