Start by cleaning your hands with soap and water or hand sanitiser before you open the mask. Take the mask out without touching the inside surface, then hold it by the ear loops. Place the loops over your ears, press the bendable nose clip with your fingertips so it follows the shape of your nose, and pull the lower edge down until the mask covers your chin. Check the sides for gaps; a snug fit is important because air will otherwise pass around the mask rather than through the material.
While you are wearing it, do not touch the front of the mask. The front may collect droplets and moisture during use. If you must adjust it, touch only the ear loops or the very edge of the mask, and clean your hands afterwards. If you take the mask off for a short break, do not hang it on your chin, neck, or arm and then put it back on. Replace it with a fresh one instead.
To remove it, lean forward slightly, pull the mask away from your face using the ear loops, and avoid touching the front with your hands. Throw it into a bin immediately and clean your hands again.
This is a single-use mask, so it should not be washed, disinfected, or reused. Replace it as soon as it becomes damp, damaged, or visibly soiled. Damp material filters less effectively, and a torn layer or a broken ear loop leaves an obvious gap. If you are planning to be away from home for a long time, it is practical to carry a spare mask with you.
