How should I prepare and apply the henna powder for best results?

To prepare the powder, place the 100 g of henna in a non‑metallic bowl and add enough hot water (approximately 30–50 ml) to form a smooth, lump‑free paste. Let the mixture sit for 2–4 hours; this allows the colouring molecules to fully release and activate. Use a non‑metallic utensil to stir, as metal can interfere with the dye release.

Before applying, ensure the hair is clean and completely dry. Apply the paste starting at the roots, working it through to the ends so that every strand is evenly coated, and use a brush or gloved hands to cover all sections. Cover the hair with a plastic cap or a warm towel and leave it on for 2–4 hours, or longer if a deeper colour is desired; for very porous hair you may extend the time up to an additional hour.

After the waiting period, rinse the hair thoroughly with lukewarm water until the runoff runs clear. Avoid shampoo for at least 48 hours to let the colour set, and refrain from using harsh detergents that could strip the pigment. The result may darken slightly over the next few days, and you can gently towel‑dry and let the hair air‑dry before styling.
