How should I position the belt so it supports the lower back properly?

Place the belt around the lower back so that the wider supportive section covers the lumbar region, then bring the front around the abdomen and fasten it snugly. The pressure should feel even across the back and front. If one edge digs in, the belt may be sitting too high, too low, or tightened unevenly.

Before tightening, stand in a relaxed upright position and adjust the belt so it follows the natural line of your waist and lower back. After fastening, try a few normal movements: sit down, stand up, bend slightly and walk. The belt should remain stable without rolling and should not push into the ribs, hips or abdomen in a way that makes movement uncomfortable.

For sitting or driving, you may need slightly less compression than for standing or lifting because the abdomen is compressed more in a seated position. The goal is steady support and warmth, not maximum tightness. Wearing the belt over a thin layer of clothing can also help comfort and reduce friction, especially during longer periods of use.
