How should I incorporate Siberian Oat Bran into my daily meals to increase fiber intake without causing digestive discomfort?

"FIGURNOE PITANIE" Siberi kaerakliid 200 g

Start with a small amount, such as one teaspoon (about 5 g) per day, and observe how your digestive system reacts. If you tolerate it well, you can increase by another teaspoon every two to three days until you reach the desired daily fiber contribution, typically between 10 g and 20 g of oat bran.

  • Mix the bran into warm or cold porridge, stirring until evenly distributed; the bran will absorb liquid and thicken the porridge slightly.
  • Add a tablespoon to yogurt, kefir or other fermented milk drinks; let it sit for a few minutes so the fibers swell before eating.
  • Blend into smoothies together with fruit, liquid and any other ingredients; the bran contributes bulk without altering flavor significantly.
  • Incorporate into baked goods such as pancake batter, muffins or homemade bread; replace up to ¼ of the flour weight with oat bran for a denser texture and higher fiber content.
  • Stir into soups, stews or sauces toward the end of cooking; the bran will thicken the liquid and add fiber without changing the taste profile.

Because oat bran absorbs water, it is important to drink plenty of fluid throughout the day; aim for at least 1.5–2 L of water unless your doctor advises otherwise. This helps the fibers move smoothly through the intestines and reduces the risk of bloating or gas.

If you experience discomfort, reduce the amount temporarily and increase more slowly. The product contains gluten from oats, so it is not suitable for individuals with oat intolerance or celiac disease; in those cases choose a certified gluten‑free fiber source.

Store the bran in a cool, dry place, preferably in an airtight container, to preserve its quality and prevent moisture uptake. Use it before the best‑by date printed on the package.
