Shungite is a natural mineral, so a little care will keep the pendant looking its best and help the cord last longer. In daily use, the most important rule is to avoid unnecessary moisture and harsh handling.
- Wipe the stone with a soft, dry cloth when it picks up dust or skin oils. No polishing products are needed.
- Do not use chemical cleaners, abrasive sponges, or ultrasonic cleaners. They can affect the surface of a natural stone.
- Keep the pendant away from perfume, hairspray, and similar products. They can leave residue on the stone and affect the cord material over time.
- Remove the pendant before sleeping, heavy exercise, or showering unless you are willing to accept extra wear. This is especially about the cord, not the stone.
A cord can fray or stretch after months of daily wear. Check it occasionally, especially near the knot, and replace the cord if you notice any damage. The stone itself holds up well in normal use, but it can chip if dropped on a hard surface, so store it in a small pouch or jewellery box when you are not wearing it.
If the stone gets soiled, a quick wipe with a slightly damp cloth followed by immediate drying is enough. Do not soak the pendant, because soaking will not clean it better and can damage the cord.
