How should I brew this tea?

There are no strict rules, but a good approach for a loose-leaf herbal blend works well. Take about 1 to 2 teaspoons (roughly 2–5 g) of the dried blend per cup (200–250 ml) of water, and pour hot water — just off the boil, around 90–100°C — over the leaves. Let it steep for 3 to 7 minutes. The longer you steep, the more flavor you extract, so adjust the time to your taste.

Because fermented fireweed has a smooth, non-astringent character, it is fairly forgiving — it does not turn bitter quickly the way green or black tea can when over-steeped. If you find it too strong, use slightly less leaf or a shorter steep; if you want a richer berry-mint note, steep a little longer or add a bit more leaf.

You can drink it hot as a warming drink in cooler weather, or let it cool and serve it over ice for a refreshing cold infusion. The dried blend can often be re-steeped once — the second cup will be lighter but still pleasant. Keep the tea in a dry, cool place in its original sealed container to preserve the aroma and freshness.
