How should I brew and store this loose pine cone tea to get the best flavour?

This product is a loose herbal tea drink, so there are no tea bags. A good starting point is about one heaped teaspoon (roughly 1–2 g) per 250 ml cup. Pour freshly boiled water over the herbs, cover the cup or teapot so the volatile essential oils do not escape, and steep for 5–10 minutes. Taste before straining; if you prefer a more delicate, less astringent cup, use a shorter steep of around 5 minutes, slightly cooler water after boiling, or a little less herb. If you want a more pronounced conifer note, extend the steeping time or add a bit more of the pine cone material from the blend.

Because the mix contains dried plant parts, including tougher material such as pine cone and bergenia leaf, it can take a few minutes for the water to fully draw out the flavour. Drink it as is; there is no need for milk or sugar. If you want a softer taste, a small amount of honey or lemon is a common personal addition, not a requirement.

For storage, keep the original pouch tightly closed after each use and place it in a cool, dry cabinet away from direct sunlight, strong spices and kitchen moisture. If you transfer the tea to another tin or glass jar, make sure the container is completely dry. Avoid dipping a wet spoon into the pouch, as moisture can make the plant material lose freshness and become musty over time. Use fresh herbs for each new cup rather than re-steeping old leaves if you want a clean, pleasant taste.
