The toning effect from this shampoo is temporary by design. Instead of penetrating the hair structure like permanent dye, the colour pigments coat the outer layer of the hair. This means the shade gradually washes out over several washes, and you can control the intensity by how often you use it and how long you leave it on.
There is no fixed number of washes that the colour will last, because several factors influence it: your hair porosity, how frequently you shampoo, the water temperature, and the amount of product you use. In general, the more often you wash your hair, the faster the tone will fade. If you want a lighter result, leave the shampoo on for a shorter time; for a more noticeable tone, leave it on longer. Because the effect is buildable, you can simply reapply it whenever the colour starts to look flat.
If your hair is very light, highly porous, damaged, or recently bleached, the pigment may deposit more strongly and also fade more quickly. In that case, it is wise to start with a shorter processing time and test on a small section first. Since the product is ammonia-free, it is a gentler option than permanent colour, but it still requires a patch test 48 hours before each use to check for allergic reactions.
