Shaving foam from an aerosol can is already whipped into a light, airy lather and dispensed with propellants. It often feels thin and can dry out quickly on the skin, especially if you have coarse hair or shave in a hard-water area. This cream is a concentrated soap base that you mix with water yourself. Because you control the amount of water, you can build a denser, more stable lather that stays on the face longer and provides a layer of cushioning between the blade and your skin. That cushioning helps the razor glide more evenly, reducing drag and the chance of nicks or irritation.
The formula also includes glycerin, which helps the skin hold moisture during the shave, and aloe vera extract, which can leave the skin feeling calmer after the blade passes. If you are used to aerosol foam, you will need to spend a little more time working the cream into a lather, but the result is usually a closer, smoother shave with less pulling. You can use a shaving brush for the best lather, or you can work the cream in your hands with a little water, though the brush gives a more consistent foam.
