Artkolor Basma is a plant-based hair colouring made from finely milled indigo leaf powder, with a single-ingredient formula: no oxidant, no developer, and no additional colourants listed. That makes it fundamentally different from permanent chemical dyes, which usually rely on a developer to open the hair cuticle and deposit synthetic colour inside the hair shaft.
Basma's pigments are released in hot water and bind to the outer layer of the hair. The resulting colour is usually more layered and softer than flat synthetic dye, and it gradually builds with longer processing time. Because it only coats the hair rather than lightening it, basma cannot make hair lighter. It is suitable for goals such as refreshing depth, giving naturally dark hair a cooler appearance, or blending roots as a herbal alternative. Previous chemical colour is not removed by basma; it simply becomes part of the background that the indigo stains over.
Even though the ingredient profile is simple, natural does not mean zero risk. The product can behave unpredictably on light, grey, bleached, or chemically processed hair, so a strand test is wise. If your scalp is sensitive or you have reacted to plant dyes before, do a patch test before full application, and keep the powder away from the eyes.
