Planeta Zdorovia Whole Crushed Spelt is prepared similarly to other whole grains like rice or quinoa, but it cooks faster than whole spelt grains due to being crushed. Rinse the spelt briefly under cold water. For a standard porridge or side dish, use a ratio of about 1 part crushed spelt to 2.5–3 parts water or broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer, cover, and cook for 20–30 minutes, or until the grains are tender and have absorbed most of the liquid. Let it sit covered for 5 minutes after turning off the heat to finish absorbing moisture. The texture when cooked is pleasantly hearty and dense with a satisfying, slight chewiness – it holds its shape well and doesn't become mushy like instant oats, making it ideal for grain bowls where you want distinct texture. You can adjust liquid and cooking time for a softer porridge or a firmer, pilaf-like result. Stir occasionally to prevent sticking, especially towards the end of cooking.
