How does this serum actually help keep colour from fading?

Coloured hair fades through several routes at once: water and shampoo gradually wash pigment out of the hair fibre, UV light breaks down colour molecules, and friction from brushing, towel-drying and styling roughens the cuticle so the shade looks duller than it is. This serum addresses those routes rather than simply coating the hair.

The low-pH formula is the key part. When the pH around the hair is lower, the cuticle scales tend to lie flatter. A flatter cuticle means less pigment escapes from inside the fibre, and the surface reflects light more evenly, which is what makes coloured hair look glossy and the tone look more saturated. The conditioning agents and silicones add a thin, flexible layer over the shaft, which reduces friction and makes the hair easier to slide a brush through — less tugging means less mechanical damage that can expose colour to the environment.

For outdoor exposure, the formula includes UV filters and organic Arctic raspberry extract. UV filters reduce the amount of UV radiation reaching the hair, while the raspberry extract adds antioxidant value to help limit the impact of free radicals generated by UV and other environmental stressors. Neither ingredient is a miracle shield, but together they give a practical layer of protection for the months when dyed hair tends to lose vibrancy fastest.

To get the most out of it, use it consistently after washing on towel-dried hair, focusing on mid-lengths and ends. It is a complement to a colour-care routine, not a replacement for a gentle shampoo or for avoiding excessive heat.
