How does the gel-balm texture compare to a thick ointment or pure oil for self-massage of the back?

The gel-balm base is formulated to balance glide and absorption. Compared to a dense ointment, it spreads more easily with less pressure, which matters when you’re reaching your own lower back or shoulder blades. Compared to pure shark oil or other liquid oils, it doesn’t run or drip, so you can apply it precisely along the spine without it sliding down before you start massaging. The shark oil contributes squalene and fat-soluble vitamins that soften the skin and reduce friction during the massage strokes. After a few minutes of rubbing, the product absorbs enough that clothing won’t stick or stain, but a slight film remains to keep the skin hydrated. For best results, warm a pea-sized amount between your palms first, then use long, upward strokes along the paraspinal muscles. If you prefer a longer massage session, reapply a small amount as needed rather than using a thick layer at once.
