How does the exfoliation work, and is it suitable for sensitive skin?

The exfoliation mechanism in this scrub is designed to be progressive and multi-layered. It combines three distinct physical exfoliants: sugar crystals, salt crystals, and volcanic pumice. The sugar and salt crystals are water-soluble, meaning they begin to dissolve as you massage them into damp skin. This provides a gentler, dissolving exfoliation that reduces friction over time. The volcanic pumice, however, is a harder mineral that does not dissolve. It provides a finer, polishing effect to smooth out rough patches, such as those on elbows, knees, and legs. This combination allows for deep cleaning without the harsh, constant abrasion of a single hard scrub. For individuals with sensitive skin, the presence of pumice and salt can be intense. It is recommended to use a very light hand and to test the product on a small area first. If the scrub feels too abrasive or causes redness, pause use immediately. Avoid applying it to broken, irritated, or inflamed skin, as the salt and pumice may cause stinging or further irritation. The inclusion of shea butter helps mitigate the dry, tight feeling often associated with salt scrubs by coating the skin with nourishing lipids, but mechanical sensitivity remains a factor.
