Sulphate-based shampoos (like SLS or SLES) are very effective at removing oil, but they can also dissolve the lipid barrier that keeps hair flexible and shiny. For porous or chemically treated hair, that often means clean roots but rough, static-prone lengths. This formula uses a sulphate-free cleansing base — typically milder anionic, amphoteric or non-ionic surfactants — that lift dirt and excess sebum from the scalp without aggressively stripping the hair shaft.
During the first few washes, especially if you're switching from a sulphate shampoo, your hair may feel different: less "squeaky," more conditioned. That's not residue — it's the preserved lipid layer plus the macadamia and argan oils depositing on the surface. The oils are emulsified in the formula so they rinse cleanly but leave a thin, softening film. If you use heavy styling products (waxes, oils, strong hold hairsprays), you may need a clarifying shampoo once every 1–2 weeks to prevent build-up, but for daily or every-other-day washing this shampoo cleans sufficiently on its own.
Practical tip: apply to wet scalp, massage 30–60 seconds, then rinse thoroughly. The lather will be softer and less abundant — that's normal. Don't re-apply unless the scalp is genuinely oily; one pass is usually enough.
