How do I use Hydrogen Peroxide 3% correctly for cleansing skin?

The solution is intended for external use only, on small areas of skin. A typical approach is to moisten a clean cotton pad or gauze swab with the solution and gently dab or wipe the area you want to cleanse, rather than pouring the liquid directly from the bottle — this gives you better control and avoids wasting product or running it onto surrounding skin.

On contact with skin and organic particles the solution begins to foam. This is part of how it works: the released oxygen bubbles help mechanically lift visible dirt from the surface. You can wait a few moments until the foaming settles, then, if needed, remove the loosened residue with a fresh clean swab.

A few practical points:

  • use each cotton pad or swab only once, then take a new one — do not dip a used swab back into the bottle, as this can contaminate the remaining solution;
  • work on a limited area at a time; the product is not designed for prolonged application over large skin surfaces;
  • close the bottle tightly straight after use.

If the skin reacts with irritation, stop using the product; if in doubt about whether it is appropriate for your situation, consult a specialist.
