How do I tear this tape neatly without scissors, and can I make it narrower?

The roll is designed to be torn by hand both crosswise (to get the length you need) and lengthwise (to create a narrower strip). To tear it crosswise, hold the roll firmly in one hand, pull the tape taut with the other, and make a quick, sharp rip—the perforated edge or the material's weave typically allows for a fairly clean break. To split the 1.25 cm width lengthwise and make an even narrower tape for very small dressings or precise fixation, align your thumbs on either side of where you want to split it, then gently pull the two sides apart; the silk-like backing often tears quite predictably in a straight line. This flexibility is part of what makes the format convenient for quick adjustments, especially when scissors aren't handy. Remember to smooth down the edges after tearing to ensure the adhesive makes full contact with the skin or dressing.
