Care for the Volšba pendant is straightforward. The main maintenance task is keeping the stone clean enough to avoid transferring dark carbon marks. A soft, dry cloth is all you need; wiping the surface from time to time removes the loose dust that causes marks. There is no need for polishes, oils, or special jewelry cleaners — and these are best avoided, since they can alter the matte character of shungite.
The cord is waxed, which gives it a bit of protection and a slightly structured feel. In everyday use, treat it like any natural cord: do not soak it in water, avoid pulling it hard, and avoid contact with cleaning solvents or alcohol. If the cord gets dirty, it is safer to wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth and let it air dry completely before wearing the pendant again. Prolonged soaking could weaken the wax and the cord fibers.
When you are not wearing the pendant, the simplest way to store it is lying flat in a drawer or hanging on a hook, away from direct sunlight and heat. This is not because shungite is fragile — it is a hard rock — but because the cord can wear over time if crushed, bent sharply, or exposed to strong heat sources.
