Plantain leaf is a dried, crushed herb that works for both infusions (tea) and decoctions. For a light tea, use about one level teaspoon (≈2 g) of the leaves in 200 ml of water that has just boiled, cover and steep 5–10 minutes. For a stronger decoction, use two to three teaspoons and simmer 10–15 minutes, then strain. Because the product is 100 % leaf with no added flavours, you can adjust strength simply by changing the amount of leaf. The fine cut releases mucilage quickly, giving a soft, moist texture, while polyphenols and tannins add a gentle, slightly astringent note. You may blend it with other traditional herbs like nettle or mint, but start with the leaf alone to judge its natural taste. Keep the unopened package in a dry, airtight place away from light; after opening, seal the container to retain freshness.
