To use Sattva incense sticks, place the stick in a suitable holder that can catch ash – a dedicated incense holder or a small dish filled with sand or rice works well. Light the tip with a match or lighter until it flames, then gently blow out the flame. The stick will continue to smolder and release its aroma. Let it burn for as long as you need, typically a few minutes to half an hour depending on the length of the stick.
Always set the holder on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts, curtains, paper, or anything flammable. Never leave a burning stick unattended, and keep it out of reach of children and pets. Because incense produces smoke, ventilate the room – open a window slightly or use it in a well-ventilated area. This keeps the scent fresh and prevents the air from becoming too heavy, especially if you are sensitive to smoke.
If you are new to incense, start with a short burn and see how you feel. To extinguish the stick, press the glowing tip into a small amount of sand or ash, or cut off the burning end with a clean tool. Do not use water on a hot stick, as it may crack or create a mess. Always follow the safety notes on the product and never place a burning stick near anything that could catch fire.
